Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2026 ).The school interviews all applicants and their parents in Chinese and English. Admission criteria: conduct (30%), internal examination results (30%), interview (20%) and non-academic performance (20%).

There are two mid-term tests and examinations as well as continuous assessments. This diversified mode of assessment improves teaching effectiveness and reflects students' performance holistically, addresses learning diversity and promote learning and teaching effectiveness.

- Enhance students' learning effectiveness through feedback and reflection. -Develop students' potential through diverse curricula, including school-based talent classes, interdisciplinary activities, various elective subjects, applied learning programmes, and wide-life learning days. - Implement the principle of teaching according to students' abilities to cater for learning differences, including tiered worksheets, curriculum adjustments, homework support classes, small group teaching in Chinese, English, and Math, free tutorials in library, and supplementary classes in various subjects. - Improve classroom engagement through cooperative learning, e-learning, questioning techniques, and construction strategies to promote interactive learning among students. - Organize interdisciplinary reading programs using engaging thematic reading materials, along with talent or presentation competitions involving the entire school, to encourage learning through reading. - Enhance students' understanding of Chinese culture and national identity through Mainland exchange activities.

The PTA aims to help both students and parents build a sense of belonging in the school. It also works very hard to enhance the communication between students, parents and the school, through a variety of activities, including parents' talks, cooking classes, voluntary service and Care Programs for students sitting for public examinations. This fosters a more caring interaction between the school and the students. Our school website also provides parents with timely information to help parents and students build a better parent-child relationship.

Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school; and hiring additional manpower and/or translation/interpretation services to facilitate the communication with parents of NCS students.

KLSS is dedicated to inclusive education, fostering a caring culture, and providing diverse support for students with special educational needs (SEN). The Student Support Team, which includes the principal, vice-principal, educational psychologist, counseling director, SEN coordinator, and subject heads, meets regularly to plan strategies. The team also includes mentors with counseling expertise and an on-site speech therapist, as well as support staff who assist core classes in junior forms, building a three-tier support system.
The school offers various accommodations during assessments, such as extra time, vocabulary clarification, screen readers, and voice input. There are many small-group activities, including executive function training, social groups for autism, cup stacking, academic support, adventure activities, sex education, and emotional management, which aim to enhance students’ social, emotional, and cognitive abilities.
Special focus is given to SEN students’ career planning. There are career guidance groups, industry exploration, and work experience opportunities, allowing students to show their skills on platforms like the “KL Café” and gain confidence. The school has a "Harmony Zone" for social interaction, and the "Harmony Ambassador Program" allows SEN students to organize events, building confidence, life skills, and a sense of belonging.
Each year, an inclusive education awards ceremony and parents’ night is held so parents, teachers, and students can celebrate student growth together. The school also offers a support group for SEN parents. “Inclusion Culture Week” and inclusive education lessons encourage empathy among students and staff, contributing to a caring school environment.

Caring for Growth Together: The essence of KLSS is "We Love, We Can." The school adopts a mentorship system (with two mentors), where each class mentor nurtures students for three consecutive years, treating them as their own children. Character Building Shapes Lives: Teachers in our school believe in "life affects life" and actively promote positive education. Through school assemblies, grade meetings, life education classes, the "Star of the Month" program, and scholarship program, students are guided to develop positive values and an optimistic life attitude. Community Care: Through volunteer activities, students engage with the community, embodying the High Lightning qualities of "compassion," "gratitude," "respect," and "responsibility." Embracing Challenges with Faith and Perseverance: The principal's belief is "Be confident and be perseverant." Through classroom learning, physical and artistic training, extracurricular activities, public speaking opportunities, and performances, students are encouraged to bravely confront different challenges, face failures with a positive mindset, and persist without giving up. Emotions Tied to Home and Country: The school organizes nearly ten literary, innovative, or Chinese music exchanges each year, fostering interactions between students and mainland Chinese students to deepen friendships, strengthen national awareness, sense of responsibility, and belonging.
